Lesson Overview

6.20 – Practicing Medication Safety in Shared Living Environments: When living with roommates, family, or caregivers, keeping medication private and secure is essential. Store your medicines in labeled containers inside a locked box or cabinet if possible. Never share prescriptions, even if someone has the same symptoms—you could cause harm without realizing it. If others assist you, explain your schedule clearly so nothing is duplicated or skipped. Keep liquids and pills out of reach of children or visitors unfamiliar with their use. Dispose of old or unused meds properly through pharmacy take-back programs. Label everything clearly to avoid accidental swaps. Respecting boundaries protects both your health and others’ safety. Shared living doesn’t mean shared medicine. Responsible handling sets an example of maturity and reliability. Safe habits show that you value your wellbeing and others’ trust equally.
