Lesson Overview

10.72 – Dealing With Substance Use or Drug Activity Around You: Exposure to drug use can compromise safety even if you’re not involved. Avoid spaces where substances are visible or accessible. If you can’t leave immediately, keep distance and exit as soon as possible. Document illegal activity discreetly and report through safe, anonymous channels. Avoid confrontation; law enforcement handles enforcement, not individuals. Maintain clear mental boundaries—don’t justify unsafe behavior from friends or family due to loyalty. If living in shared housing, alert staff and request room changes if needed. Prioritize ventilation and cleanliness to avoid inhaling residue. Seek counseling or support groups if exposure causes emotional stress. Safety includes saying no to environments that confuse comfort with risk. Boundaries aren’t judgment—they’re self-preservation. Protecting your peace today creates space for healthier connections tomorrow and redefines your standards for what “safe” truly means.
