45.3 – Making Copies of Key Records: Making copies of key records adds an extra layer of protection against unexpected loss or damage. Photocopying or scanning essential documents like your ID, birth certificate, and insurance card ensures you always have backup proof of identity. Keep copies in a separate location from the originals—such as a trusted relative’s home or a secure digital folder. Digital copies can be stored safely in password-protected cloud accounts or encrypted drives. Regularly review copies to confirm that everything is readable and up to date. Having backups saves time and stress during emergencies like theft or natural disasters. It also makes it easier to replace originals if they are lost. Maintaining duplicates of essential records reflects responsibility and foresight. A few minutes spent making copies can prevent major complications later.
