15.56 – Dealing With Food Poisoning or Spoiled Groceries: Food safety begins long before sickness. When symptoms appear—nausea, cramps, or fever—hydrate and rest while seeking medical advice if severe. Discard questionable food immediately to avoid re-exposure. Keep your refrigerator below 40°F and label leftovers with dates. Wash hands and surfaces after handling raw meat. Pay attention to unusual smells, textures, or colors; trust your senses. If others share your meal, alert them quickly to prevent wider illness. Track what was eaten to identify causes for future prevention. Clean contaminated areas with disinfectant to stop bacteria spread. Over time, good storage and awareness habits build confidence in managing kitchen safety. The goal isn’t fear—it’s consistency. Safe handling turns your kitchen into a place of nourishment, not risk, protecting your body and everyone who eats with you.
