18.5 – Recognizing When Boundaries Are Crossed: Recognizing when boundaries are crossed helps protect your sense of safety and self-worth. Violations often appear as repeated interruptions, unwanted physical contact, or pressure to share personal information. You might notice feelings of discomfort, irritation, or anxiety when this happens. Those signals are your body’s way of warning you that something feels wrong. Don’t ignore them out of fear of seeming rude. Calmly name the behavior and state what needs to change. If the person respects you, they will adjust; if not, that reveals how much—or how little—they value your limits. Staying aware of boundary violations helps you react early instead of waiting for tension to build. Recognizing patterns empowers you to act with confidence rather than confusion. This awareness transforms relationships by replacing resentment with self-respect and steady emotional control.
