34.6 – Responding to Falls or Fainting: Responding to falls or fainting requires calm observation and gentle care. If someone falls, don’t move them immediately—first check for pain, bleeding, or loss of consciousness. Ask if they can move safely before offering support. If fainting occurs, lay the person flat, elevate their legs slightly, and loosen tight clothing to improve blood flow. Never leave an unconscious person unattended, and seek medical help if they don’t wake quickly. Prevent future falls by keeping walkways clear and avoiding slippery surfaces. Responding thoughtfully protects both the injured person and yourself. Understanding what to do after a fall teaches patience, composure, and the importance of quick, careful action in maintaining safety.
