Lesson Overview

1.144 – Dealing With Flashback-Induced Rage: Flashbacks can blur time, merging old fear with current frustration. Rage emerges as defense when memories feel too real. Recognize early sensations—heat, muscle tension, tunnel focus—as signs to pause. Step into a safe area, apply cold or firm pressure, and orient by naming today’s date aloud. Replace anger stories with grounding facts like “I’m safe right now.” Avoid self-blame; this response is survival energy misplaced in the present. Write or move gently afterward to release remaining tension. Communicate with trusted allies who understand trauma response instead of reacting to misunderstandings. Over time, consistent grounding rewires reflexes from aggression to awareness, transforming rage into reclaimed control and self-respect.
