Lesson Overview

1.17 – What to Say When You’re in Trouble but Can’t Talk: When fear locks your voice, communication needs to get creative. Have a few signals ready—text emojis, code words, or a simple phrase that means “I need help” to someone you trust. Keep your phone preloaded with emergency contacts you can reach quickly. If you can’t speak, write down what’s happening or use voice notes later to explain. Sometimes silence protects you; other times it hides your pain. Knowing the difference is key. Practice short sentences that carry big meaning, like “It’s not safe here” or “Can we meet?” Breathing first helps you speak slower and clearer when panic hits. Remember, asking for help doesn’t make you weak; it means you want to stay safe. The right person will never be angry you reached out. Communication under pressure isn’t about perfection—it’s about keeping the line of survival open.
