Lesson Overview

1.10 – When You Feel Like the World Is Closing In Fast: Moments of extreme stress can feel like walls closing in, trapping your breath and shrinking your sense of safety. This happens when your nervous system floods with fear chemicals meant to keep you alive. To counter that, ground your body before your mind spirals. Focus on one sound, one color, or one object near you and name it out loud. Slowing your breathing tells your brain that danger has passed. If possible, step outside or look at the sky—it widens your focus and breaks the tunnel vision. Remind yourself that panic is temporary and has a peak; no feeling lasts forever. The more often you practice calming techniques, the quicker your system recovers. Over time, what once felt suffocating becomes manageable. The world isn’t actually closing—it’s your stress lens tightening, and learning to widen it again is freedom.
