Lesson Overview
1.89 – Establishing a ‘Do Not Engage’ Emergency Rule: A preset rule eliminates decision fatigue mid-crisis. Write down clear parameters: topics, times, or individuals off-limits when distressed. Share rule with allies who will enforce it kindly. During triggers, verbalize activation—“Rule On.” This phrase signals pause, not avoidance. The brain relaxes knowing protocol exists. Re-evaluate rule periodically for effectiveness. Automatic disengagement prevents regretful outbursts. Over time, the rule becomes reflex protection similar to seatbelts—simple, consistent, lifesaving. Emotional intelligence isn’t endless endurance; it’s knowing when structure must replace stamina. Boundaries practiced publicly defend peace privately.
