1.3 – Building Your Own Safety Plan at Home: A personal safety plan is like a map you create before a storm hits — it keeps panic out and brings confidence in. Start by listing the safest spots in your house where you can go if arguments or danger happen, like a locked bathroom or a quiet corner away from doors. Keep a small bag with essentials — charger, keys, or notes with emergency numbers — ready in one easy-to-grab place. Decide who you can text or call fast when you need help, and agree on a simple phrase or emoji that signals you’re in trouble. Write down where you’d go if you had to leave home suddenly and how you’d get there safely. A plan doesn’t mean you expect danger; it means you value preparation. When you practice the steps calmly, they become habits that protect you naturally. Feeling safe comes from knowing you’ve already thought ahead, even when others haven’t. Planning is peace in disguise.
