Lesson Overview

1.4 – Rebuilding Trust After a Scary Night: After a frightening event, trust can feel cracked, even within loving families. Children may replay the fear, wondering if it could happen again. The best repair begins with consistency—keeping promises, following routines, and talking openly about what happened. When parents admit mistakes and explain steps taken to stay safe, children begin to relax. Gentle reassurance, hugs, and predictable daily rituals signal that stability is returning. Trust grows through repetition of safety, not through one big talk. Be patient if your child needs extra closeness or becomes clingy; that’s their way of testing security. Rebuilding trust is slow, but every calm morning and peaceful bedtime adds a layer of confidence. Over time, fear fades and safety becomes believable again.
