Lesson Overview

1.13 – When You’re Triggered by Something No One Else Sees: Triggers are invisible signals that awaken old pain, often confusing people who don’t understand your reaction. You’re not “overreacting”; your body is responding to stored fear. The key is recognizing triggers early by tracking physical signs like heart rate or tension. When you sense one, pause and breathe through it rather than fighting it. Use grounding statements like “I’m safe right now” to calm your nervous system. Over time, you’ll learn to name triggers out loud so others can respect your needs. Educating trusted people about them turns shame into communication. Healing doesn’t mean never being triggered—it means knowing what to do afterward. As awareness grows, the trigger loses control, and you reclaim your calm with every mindful response.
