Lesson Overview

1.08 – Dealing with Holidays in Crisis: Holidays can intensify grief and depression because they spotlight what’s missing. Memories, expectations, and social pressure collide, leaving you drained. Planning ahead helps protect emotional energy. Decide which traditions to keep, skip, or reinvent to fit your current capacity. It’s okay to celebrate differently or not at all. Communicate your limits to friends and family early, and schedule grounding breaks during gatherings. Avoid comparing your experience to others; your timeline for healing is your own. Create a small ritual to honor who or what you’ve lost—lighting a candle, writing a letter, or volunteering for others in need. Acts of kindness often ease grief’s heaviness. Remember that holidays are just dates; your worth isn’t measured by your cheerfulness. Gentle structure, rest, and compassion turn survival into quiet resilience. You’re allowed to move through the season at your pace without apology.
