Lesson Overview

1.38 – What to Do After a Panic Attack: After a panic attack, your body might feel weak, dizzy, or embarrassed, but recovery is a victory, not a failure. Begin by sitting or lying down somewhere quiet and safe. Sip water slowly to help your body reconnect with the present. Remind yourself that panic attacks end—they always do, even when they feel endless. Once your breathing steadies, stretch gently to release leftover tension. Avoid overanalyzing what triggered it until you’ve fully calmed down. Write a short note of reassurance to yourself for next time, like “You survived before; you’ll survive again.” Share your experience with a trusted person who won’t minimize your fear. Panic doesn’t mean danger—it means your brain thought you were unsafe when you weren’t. With practice, you’ll recognize the early signs sooner and guide yourself back to calm faster each time.
