Lesson Overview

1.21 – What to Do When You Hear “You’re Just Being Dramatic”: Being dismissed as “dramatic” when you’re in distress can cut deep and make you shut down. Remember that intensity doesn’t equal exaggeration; your feelings deserve respect. When others minimize you, respond with clarity instead of defense—say what you need calmly. Keep expressing your truth even if they don’t understand right away. Write your emotions somewhere safe so they don’t build into explosions. Seek validation from those who listen without mocking. Sometimes people say “dramatic” because they fear emotion, not because you’re wrong to feel. Staying grounded while speaking truth transforms emotional strength into quiet power. Over time, consistency shows that expressing deeply isn’t attention-seeking—it’s self-awareness. Your emotions are real, and they matter even when others choose not to see them.
