Lesson Overview

1.25 – Safety Planning for Nights When It Gets Really Bad: Nights are hardest because darkness amplifies loneliness and memories. Creating a safety plan helps you get through those hours without danger. Keep emergency numbers, a trusted contact, and grounding activities ready before night falls. Write calming phrases on sticky notes near your bed. Avoid isolation by messaging someone safe or watching soothing videos until you’re steady. Light a lamp or hold something comforting to remind yourself you’re still here. If thoughts turn dark, step outside, change rooms, or move your body—small changes disrupt spirals. Promise yourself that you’ll survive the night first and make decisions in daylight. Every time you keep that promise, your resilience strengthens. Bad nights lose their grip when you realize you have choices beyond giving up.
