Lesson Overview

1.9 – Making a Plan to Stay Safe from Violence: Safety doesn’t mean living in fear — it means knowing how to protect yourself when things get tense. First, learn to recognize early signs of trouble, like raised voices, slamming doors, or threats. Create exits in your head — which door, path, or neighbor’s home could you go to quickly? Keep essentials like shoes, a phone, and ID where you can grab them fast. Share your plan with someone you trust so they can act if you disappear or can’t call. It’s also smart to memorize one emergency number in case your phone dies. Never worry about being rude or overreacting; safety is more important than pride. Every step you prepare adds time, distance, and choices — the three keys to survival. The safest people aren’t lucky; they’re ready.
