1.26 – How to Stop Yourself From Saying the Wrong Thing: Emotional overload can make words spill before thought catches up. When you sense anger building, pause and breathe—silence can protect your relationships better than quick defense. Count to ten, look away, or sip water to give your brain seconds to cool. Ask yourself, “What’s my goal right now—being right or staying calm?” Writing thoughts first often prevents regret later. If you do speak too soon, own it quickly and apologize; maturity shines through correction. The more you practice mindful pauses, the easier it gets to respond instead of react. Over time, you’ll realize that control over speech is control over direction. Conversations heal faster when words are chosen, not thrown.
