1.2 – Crisis Planning for Teens With Explosive Anger: Planning ahead for anger episodes can turn chaos into structure. Teens with explosive anger need clear signals and agreed-upon steps before tempers rise. Begin by mapping triggers together — unfairness, rejection, limits — so both of you know the danger zones. Establish “pause points,” like stepping outside or listening to music, that both parties respect. Post the plan somewhere visible and practice it when calm, not during heat. In a blow-up, remind yourself to keep voice volume low and body language open; shouting invites escalation. Use short sentences that direct rather than debate. Praise recovery moments more than you punish outbursts. After each event, review what worked and refine the plan like a team improving a playbook. Structure reduces fear, and predictability restores trust. When anger meets preparation instead of panic, healing begins to replace hostility.
