Lesson Overview

1.12 – Keeping Control During a Verbal Altercation: Verbal conflict can spiral faster than awareness unless you anchor yourself to structure and breathing. Control begins with slowing your words even when adrenaline demands speed. Keep responses concise, factual, and toneless; emotional tones add fuel. When possible, stand at an angle rather than face-to-face—it lowers perceived threat. Your nervous system mirrors what it sees, so calm posture helps both sides de-escalate. If insults come, resist defense; silence signals that respect remains your standard. The aim isn’t winning; it’s preserving equilibrium until safety returns. Eye contact should stay soft, never piercing. You cannot manage another person’s rage, but you can manage your energy field. Remember that composure under attack teaches your body that power doesn’t need volume. Mastering stillness inside chaos builds credibility and confidence beyond argument.
