Lesson Overview

1.35 – What to Do When You Can’t Feel Your Body: Dissociation numbs sensation, leaving mind and body disconnected. Begin re-anchoring through sensory stimulation—press feet firmly, hold textured fabric, or alternate hot and cold touch. Naming sensations aloud (“Rough blanket, warm cup”) rebuilds physical presence. Deep breathing expands awareness into the torso, drawing consciousness back from mental fog. Move slowly; abrupt actions deepen detachment. Avoid self-criticism—numbness signals overload, not weakness. If available, mirror check helps confirm existence visually. Schedule grounding routines at consistent times to train reconnection. Document triggers that precede numbness; prevention starts in recognition. Rejoining your body isn’t instant—it’s gradual trust restoration. Each reconnection moment strengthens resilience, reminding you that feeling again means healing, not danger. Presence reclaimed becomes the foundation for all crisis recovery.
