Lesson Overview

1.16 – Crisis Management When You’re Afraid of the Other Parent: Fear of the other parent turns co-parenting into emotional triage. Document every interaction factually—dates, times, behaviors—without emotional commentary. Use written communication when possible; it leaves trails and reduces verbal tension. Always meet in public or neutral places and bring a supportive adult when exchanges feel unsafe. Teach children what to do if voices rise—move away, find another adult, and never intervene. Trust your instincts; unease signals danger before evidence does. Contact advocates or legal aid early to learn protective options like restraining orders or supervised visits. Build parallel parenting rather than forced harmony when safety outweighs cooperation. Boundaries become shields, not barriers, when enforced consistently with clarity and calm conviction.
