Lesson Overview

1.24 – Coping When the Fight Response Takes Over: The fight response floods muscles with energy meant for survival, not conversation. When adrenaline spikes, reasoning fades; physical readiness replaces reflection. Redirect that surge through safe outlets—squeezing stress tools, brisk movement, controlled exhale—to discharge excess energy. Naming sensations aloud (“My hands are shaking”) reconnects mind to body. Once movement slows, emotions follow. The challenge isn’t eliminating fight mode but channeling it productively. Visualization helps—imagine redirecting fire into light, not destruction. With repetition, you’ll catch the first sparks before they ignite behavior you regret. Fight energy contains courage; trained correctly, it becomes determination. Control doesn’t erase instinct—it refines it into measured strength. The more often you redirect, the faster you’ll recover equilibrium, proving mastery through restraint, not eruption.
