Lesson Overview

1.38 – When You Can’t Stop Replaying What Happened: Mental replay is your brain’s way of seeking closure after distress, looping the scene to find control it lost. Interrupt the loop gently—saying “stop” aloud or snapping fingers helps. Replace it with grounding facts: where you are, what time it is, what’s happening now. Write the event once in full detail, then close the page physically to signal completion. Each time replay returns, remind yourself the story is documented; no need to relive it. Shift focus to body awareness—stretching, breathing, or rhythmic motion. If guilt fuels replay, channel it into action or apology. The goal isn’t forgetting but releasing obsession. Memory softens when purpose replaces rumination. Healing comes when you accept that the event is over, lessons kept but pain retired. Peace begins where replay ends.
