Lesson Overview

1.10 – How to Feel Safe Again After a Scary Moment: After something frightening happens, your body holds on to the memory even when your mind says it’s over. Feeling safe again starts by rebuilding trust between the two. Scan your surroundings and name things that prove you are safe now—walls, locks, light, people nearby. Let yourself breathe into calm instead of forcing it. Try gentle movements or soft music to remind your brain of peace. Safety doesn’t return all at once; it rebuilds one steady moment at a time. Sleep, eat, and move slowly—these simple acts tell your system that normal life is returning. Talk or write about what happened so it doesn’t stay bottled up. Courage isn’t about forgetting fear but learning that it no longer controls the room. Over time, safety becomes a muscle you can strengthen with small, kind habits each day.
