Lesson Overview

1.2 – Recognizing the Onset of Panic: Panic can sneak up fast, but your body often gives signals before it takes over. It might start as a racing heart, tight chest, or sense that something terrible is about to happen. These sensations come from adrenaline flooding your system, preparing you to escape danger that may not actually exist. When you notice these early signs, you can slow things down before panic peaks. Grounding with deep, steady breaths helps your brain realize you’re safe. Naming each symptom—“my heart is fast,” “my hands are sweaty”—turns fear into information. Over time, recognizing your panic cues early lets you choose calming actions sooner. The more familiar you become with your body’s warning signs, the less power panic holds. It’s about turning fear into a signal, not a storm. That shift transforms panic from a threat into a message your body sends for understanding, not alarm.
