Lesson Overview

1.13 – Creating a “Do Not React” Emergency Plan: Sometimes the best reaction is no reaction at all. A “do not react” plan means pre-choosing calm when provoked, saving you from decisions made in chaos. Start by identifying triggers—people, words, or situations that light your fuse. Then list actions to delay response: count to twenty, leave the room, or text a trusted friend instead of replying. Visualization helps too—picture yourself walking away with composure instead of exploding. Keep a physical reminder like a bracelet or note that signals pause before response. Every time you use the plan successfully, reward yourself; you’re training emotional muscle. Over time, calm becomes your default instead of your effort. This isn’t avoidance; it’s strategy. Reacting later with clarity turns conflict into communication and earns respect. Silence used wisely becomes your loudest form of strength, proving control is the sharpest skill during emotional storms.
