Lesson Overview

1.11 – When You Feel the Cry Coming and You’re Not Home: Tears can rise suddenly, especially when you’re away from home and holding it in feels impossible. The pressure in your chest means your body is asking for release, not punishment. Find a quiet space — a bathroom stall, hallway corner, or even outside under open air — where you can breathe without judgment. Take deep breaths through your nose, hold for a moment, and exhale slowly; that single rhythm tells your body you are safe enough to soften. Use a tissue or sleeve, not to hide tears but to steady yourself with touch. Think of a word that comforts you — maybe “safe,” “breathe,” or “here” — and repeat it until your heartbeat evens out. Crying isn’t weakness; it’s your mind’s reset button when emotions overflow. When the wave passes, splash cool water on your face, fix your posture, and remind yourself that strength is what happens after you allow honesty to speak through tears.
