Lesson Overview

1.23 – Coping With the Fear of Being Taken Away Again: Fear of being removed from home or losing another placement can create constant anxiety. That fear makes it hard to relax, even in safety. Begin by identifying what you can control—your routines, behavior, and communication with caregivers. When panic rises, remind yourself that fear of loss doesn’t mean loss is coming. Talk openly with your caseworker about what stability means to you. Build backup plans so surprises don’t feel catastrophic. Having emotional anchors, like music or journaling, gives you security even if circumstances change. The more predictability you create, the less power fear holds. Healing this fear takes time and reassurance, but every stable day rebuilds trust. You deserve consistency, and learning to protect peace inside yourself ensures that no change can take it away completely.
