Lesson Overview

1.10 – Dealing with Gaslighting and Manipulation: Gaslighting is emotional warfare disguised as conversation. It makes you doubt your memory, feelings, and reality. The first step to breaking free is naming it for what it is — manipulation, not misunderstanding. Keep written notes of what was said or done so truth stays anchored. When someone twists facts to confuse you, respond with calm certainty, not defensiveness. Use short, factual statements and refuse to argue about what you know to be true. Avoid trying to convince the manipulator; their goal is control, not clarity. Surround yourself with people who validate your experiences and remind you what’s real. Over time, distance from the manipulator restores emotional vision. Rebuilding confidence may take time, but every step away from deceit strengthens your self-trust. Truth always becomes clearer when you stop fighting to prove it and start protecting it.
