Lesson Overview

1.5 – Tapping (EFT) in the Moment: Emotional Freedom Technique, or tapping, uses gentle finger taps on specific points of your body to calm the stress response. These points correspond with the same meridians used in acupuncture, helping energy flow through the body more freely. During a crisis, tapping these points while repeating reassuring statements can interrupt panic and reprogram anxious thoughts. For example, you might tap the edge of your hand while saying, “Even though I feel afraid, I am safe right now.” The rhythm and touch help signal safety to your brain, while the words encourage emotional release. This blend of movement and mindfulness offers a quick, portable way to calm down without needing any tools or privacy. Research shows tapping can lower cortisol levels, which means less tension and clearer thinking under pressure. The key is consistency—using tapping regularly helps your mind associate the gesture with emotional relief. Over time, it becomes a self-soothing habit that grounds you faster with each repetition. When stress feels overwhelming, tapping is like pressing a mental reset button that reconnects you with calm control.
