Lesson Overview

1.184 – Responding to Flashbacks With Curiosity, Not Fear: Flashbacks compress time; curiosity re-expands it. When one begins, identify sensory details proving the present: today’s date, clothes color, nearby sounds. Breathe and note, “This is memory, not now.” Curiosity shifts mindset from victim to observer. Describe sensations like a narrator rather than participant to regain perspective. Afterward, journal insights about triggers or lessons revealed. Fear tightens trauma’s grip; curiosity loosens it through understanding. Each compassionate inquiry reframes reaction as data, not danger. Over time, flashbacks lose intensity, replaced by informed calm recognizing history without reliving harm. Awareness becomes liberation practiced gently.
