Lesson Overview

1.35 – Staying Safe When Your Mind Feels Dangerous: When your own thoughts threaten you, treat safety as priority one. Remove access to harmful objects and move closer to supportive spaces—friend’s house, hotline, or crisis center. Keep grounding tools nearby: ice, textures, or breathing lists. Tell yourself aloud, “Thoughts aren’t commands.” Repeat until belief returns. Write distress on paper and physically destroy it; symbolic release helps control. Create an environment where supervision or companionship replaces secrecy. Rest frequently; exhaustion amplifies risk. Seek professional support early—medication or therapy provides structured stabilization. Safety planning isn’t dramatic; it’s responsible maintenance. Remember, surviving dark thoughts proves dominance over them. Each time you choose precaution instead of action, you reclaim ownership of your future. Protection becomes courage personified in stillness.
