Lesson Overview

1.9 – Making a Plan for When Your Emotions Take Over: Strong emotions can hijack logic before you even realize it. Having a written plan helps you act from preparation instead of panic. List your triggers, warning signs, and the steps that help most—like breathing, stepping outside, or calling someone calm. Keep copies on your phone and in your bag. Add a grounding item, like a smooth stone or bracelet, to remind you to pause before reacting. When feelings rise fast, reading your own plan gives your brain a familiar script to follow. Each time you practice it, emotional storms lose a little more power. Share your plan with one trusted person so they know how to support you. The goal isn’t to avoid emotions but to learn how to surf their waves without being pulled under. Preparedness builds confidence that you can handle the next wave when it comes.
