1.6 – What to Do After Losing Someone Suddenly: Sudden loss shatters your sense of order and leaves emotions scattered in every direction. Shock might make it hard to cry, think, or even breathe normally. The first thing is to focus on simple routines—eating, resting, and talking—to help your body catch up to your heart. Grief won’t follow a schedule; some days you’ll feel okay, others you’ll collapse again. It’s normal. Sharing memories and pictures can make the person feel closer while allowing sadness to move through you. Avoid rushing to be “strong” for others; true strength comes from allowing pain to exist. Over time, grief changes shape—it won’t always dominate, but it will always matter. Healing is not forgetting; it’s learning to live with the love that remains. That quiet love becomes your compass when everything else feels broken.
