Lesson Overview

11.4 – Recognizing Common Triggers for Impulsivity: Impulsive behavior often starts with hidden triggers like stress, anger, excitement, or boredom. These moments make it easy to react without thinking. Triggers can be external—like arguments, noise, or tempting situations—or internal—like loneliness or fear. Learning your triggers helps you notice warning signs before acting. You might feel your heart race, muscles tense, or thoughts rush. These are clues that an impulse is building. By tracking patterns, you start predicting when you’re most likely to react too fast. Recognizing triggers doesn’t stop them right away, but it helps you pause long enough to choose differently. Each time you catch a trigger, your self-awareness grows stronger. With practice, you turn your impulses into signals instead of traps. Awareness gives you the chance to act with intention and calm.
