29.30 – Why Avoiding Fear Makes It Stronger: Avoiding fear might feel like relief in the short term, but it teaches the brain that the danger is too big to face. Each time we avoid, we reinforce the belief that we can’t handle it. This makes fear grow louder and more convincing. Over time, what started as a small worry can turn into a major obstacle. The only way to weaken fear is to face it, even in small ways. Gradual exposure teaches our nervous system that fear won’t destroy us. Avoidance is a temporary comfort, while action brings lasting calm. By stepping toward fear, we take our power back from it. What we face repeatedly becomes familiar, and what’s familiar loses its threat.
