Lesson Overview

8.21 – How Shame Blocks Emotional Expression: Shame often shuts down feelings before they can be shared. It tells you emotions are too much or that showing them will make you weak. Over time, this causes emotional numbness or outbursts. When you suppress emotions, they build up inside and come out in unhealthy ways. Recognizing that your feelings are valid—even when messy—breaks shame’s hold. Expressing emotions through words, writing, or art helps release pressure. Vulnerability is a form of courage, not weakness. When you allow yourself to feel without judgment, you start to heal. Emotional honesty creates space for connection and self-trust to grow.
