Lesson Overview

29.20 – Fear and Anxiety: Similarities and Differences: Fear and anxiety feel alike, but they aren’t exactly the same. Fear usually happens in response to a real or immediate danger, while anxiety is more about what might happen in the future. Both can cause fast heartbeats, tense muscles, and racing thoughts. The difference is that fear fades once the threat passes, but anxiety can linger and grow without clear reason. Understanding this difference helps us choose the right coping skills. Facing fear often means exposure and courage, while calming anxiety requires relaxation and grounding. Both emotions serve a purpose—they alert us to what feels unsafe. By listening carefully, we can decide when to act and when to soothe. Knowing how they connect helps us manage both with more confidence and clarity.
