You can unclench your fists, relax your jaw, or focus on breathing out longer than you breathe in. These small steps tell your body the threat is over. Reminding yourself “I can handle this” shifts the mind from reaction to control. Visualizing your anger as a wave that rises and falls helps you ride it instead of drown in it. Practice noticing early signs—tight chest, racing heart—so you can act before anger peaks. Over time, these steps become automatic. Calming in the moment turns anger into strength guided by choice.
