🧘🏽 Emotional Regulation & Coping Skills *coming soon *coming soon
Course overview
Lesson Overview

1.2 – How the Brain Processes Emotions: Your brain has fast and slow systems that handle feelings. The fast system reacts first to keep you safe. The slower system helps you think it through and choose a response. The amygdala helps spot threats, and the prefrontal cortex helps with planning. When stress is high, the fast system can take the lead. Breathing, pausing, and naming feelings help the thinking part come back online. Sleep, food, and movement also support clear thinking. You can train your brain to switch from react to respond. Over time, practice builds new brain pathways. That means calmer choices feel more natural.
