Lesson Overview

31.2 – The Difference Between Coping and Resilience: Coping and resilience both help you deal with life’s challenges, but they’re not the same thing. Coping helps you manage stress in the moment, while resilience helps you grow from it over time. Coping might look like taking a deep breath, talking to someone, or doing something to calm yourself down. Resilience goes deeper—it’s what helps you rebuild and move forward after the storm has passed. You can think of coping as the short-term tool and resilience as the long-term skill. Both are important, and they often work together. Building good coping strategies lays the foundation for stronger resilience later. Resilience helps you look back at difficult times and realize how much you’ve learned. It’s the difference between just surviving and truly thriving. When you have both, life’s ups and downs feel a little less scary.
