3.11 – Why Loss Can Feel Like Losing a Part of Yourself: When someone or something deeply connected to you is gone, it can feel like part of your own identity has vanished. You might ask, “Who am I without them?” or “What do I do now?” That feeling is natural because love intertwines your sense of self with others. Loss pulls those threads apart, leaving emptiness where belonging once was. Healing begins by slowly re-weaving new threads—through self-discovery, community, and care. You start to realize that while a part of life is gone, its influence still lives inside you. The love and memories become part of who you are now. Accepting that allows you to grow beyond the pain. You don’t lose yourself forever—you rebuild yourself around what remains true.
