29.25 – Building Confidence Through Exposure: The best way to overcome fear is often to face it slowly and safely. Exposure therapy works by taking small, planned steps toward what scares us. Each success, no matter how small, proves we can handle more than we thought. Confidence builds naturally when we challenge fear instead of hiding from it. For example, someone afraid of public speaking might start by talking to a friend, then a small group, then a class. The key is progress, not perfection. As we move forward, the fear response weakens, and control returns. Every step shows the brain that the situation isn’t as dangerous as it once seemed. With time, what once caused panic can become routine. Facing fear becomes the path to lasting confidence.
