Lesson Overview

4.13 – Regret and the “What If” Trap: The “what if” trap keeps people stuck in endless possibilities that never happened. It tricks us into believing there’s a perfect version of our past waiting to be discovered. This mindset steals focus from what’s real and keeps energy tied to imagination. Regret feeds it by replaying old moments with new answers. Escaping the trap means realizing that no version of life is without trade-offs. Every choice closes one path and opens another. Instead of chasing impossible outcomes, gratitude helps ground us in what exists now. Learning to say, “That was the best I could do with what I knew,” brings peace. The “what if” trap loses power when we practice self-acceptance. Freedom begins when curiosity replaces comparison.
