Lesson Overview

36.20 – Trust Issues After Repeated Disappointments: When trust is broken over and over again, your mind learns to expect betrayal even when it’s not there. You may find yourself overanalyzing words, fearing rejection, or pulling away from closeness. This kind of emotional defense once protected you, but it can now block healthy connections. Repeated disappointment rewires the brain to associate trust with pain. Healing begins by slowing down and learning to separate the past from the present. Not everyone will repeat the same patterns, and not every risk leads to hurt. Building trust again takes small steps, where consistent honesty from others slowly teaches your nervous system that safety exists. It’s okay to take your time; trust doesn’t return overnight. Over time, you begin to recognize people who earn your trust through steadiness, not perfection. Repeated disappointment may have taught caution, but it also gives you wisdom about what genuine reliability looks like.
