🧘🏽 Emotional Regulation & Coping Skills *coming soon *coming soon
Course overview
Lesson Overview

30.12 – The Role of Memory in Trauma: Memory works differently after trauma. The brain may store fragments out of order or forget entire pieces to protect you. This can make your story feel broken or confusing. Sometimes memories return suddenly through flashbacks or dreams. Other times, they stay hidden until you feel safe enough to remember. The brain does this to help you survive overwhelming moments. Healing involves learning to piece together your story without reliving the pain. Naming what happened helps your brain put it in the past where it belongs. When memories are understood and safely stored, they lose power over your present. This brings peace and a sense of closure.
