Lesson Overview

7.17 – Counting Exercises to Distract the Brain: Counting is a simple yet powerful tool during panic. You can count backward from 100 or focus on counting breaths in and out. The rhythm pulls your attention away from fearful thoughts. Your brain can’t focus on counting and panicking at the same time. This small mental task helps restore order to chaotic thinking. Counting can also pair with tapping or gentle movement for added grounding. It gives your mind something predictable when everything feels uncertain. Over time, counting becomes a reliable signal that you’re taking control. The more you practice, the faster it calms your racing mind.
