Lesson Overview

29.16 – The Link Between Fear and Avoidance: Fear and avoidance often work together in a cycle that keeps people stuck. When something scares us, the easiest response is to avoid it completely, which gives temporary relief but strengthens the fear long-term. Each time we avoid a situation, our brain learns that escape equals safety. Over time, this can make our world feel smaller and more limited. Breaking that cycle starts by taking small, manageable steps toward the fear instead of running from it. Even tiny acts of courage begin to retrain the brain to see safety where it once saw danger. Avoidance might feel protective, but it steals confidence and growth. Facing things gradually allows fear to lose its intensity. The more we practice leaning into discomfort, the more freedom and resilience we gain.
